SMARC is excited about collaborative opportunities with industry partners. Partnerships with industry will be critical in the identification ‘use-inspired’ research challenges that facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology related to synthetic biological or recombinant protein-based materials.

Industrial Advisory Board

The Industrial Advisory Board is composed of industry representatives, technology end-users, and investors to guide SMARC research to address industry and end-user needs.  The goals of Industrial Advisory Board:

  • Identify fundamental gaps or barriers in knowledge/technology related to the use of synthetic biology and biomanfacturing to produce synthetic biological or recombinant protein-based materials.
  • To focus basic science research thrusts on use-inspired challenges
  • To determine how synthetic biology and biomanfactruing to produce synthetic biological or recombinant protein-based materials can impact on industrial interest.
  • Identify technology testbeds for the basic science research on synthetic biological or recombinant protein-based materials.
  • Determine future workforce training and educational needs of a materials and biomanfacturing industry that produce synthetic biological or recombinant protein-based materials on a commercial scale.

Research

Whether you’re considering new methods of applying synthetic biology to produce materials  or are interested in developing bio-derived, high-performance, and biodegradable materials – the world-leading expertise of the SMARC can help.

Testing

SMARC has access to unique and cutting-edge techniques and equipment for the characterization and testing on synthetic biological or recombinant protein-based materials.
